Faculty

Michael M. Yell has taught every social studies discipline in every secondary grade, and currently teaches seventh grade word history, and holds National Board Certification (NBPTS). In addition to teaching 125 12 and 13 year old students a day, Mike is currently working on a book of practical social studies tools for the Thoughtful Education Press and soon an NCSS book on teaching strategies, C3, and the Common Core will be in the works. Dr. Geoffrey Scheurman is the chair of the Department of Teacher Education, University of Wisconsin~River Falls. He teaches and coordinates Elementary and Secondary Social Studies Methods, School and Society, Foundations of Education, and Directed Field Experiences. Prior to his university work, Geoff taught law-related education and American studies at the secondary level. He was a Fulbright Roving Scholar in Norway during the 2011-12 school year, and this school year will be teaching in Europe. He is currently writing a book on the inquiry-based social studies programs of the sixties and seventies.

Fee: $279 members/$369 non-members (includes lunch, breaks and course materials)
