Description
Data Science 4 Everyone and the National Council for the Social Studies are partnering to host a national planning summit to incorporate emerging technology skills, habits, and dispositions into K-12 social studies teaching and curriculum. The discussion will be focused on why the essential skills of data literacy, media literacy, news literacy, and AI literacy are foundational for students to use technology and AI in an ethical and responsible manner. From those discussions, we will move into a workshop where participants will draw upon the K-12 Data Literacy & Data Science Learning Progressions and AI4K12 AI Literacy Frameworks to create subject-specific guidance for social studies teaching strategies and curriculum, and incorporate new ideas that are authentic to the discipline.
