Support the Future of Social Studies Education with a Financial Gift to NCSS

Since our founding in 1921, National Council for the Social Studies has worked to promote the teaching of social studies to the best advantage of the students in the classroom, to encourage research, experimentation, and investigation; and to provide leadership, support and service to social studies educators. You can help NCSS strenghten our advocacy for social studies; increase our services to educators and encourage and support research and classroom application projects that improve social studies education by making a tax-deductible financial gift. Contributions may be designated in several ways.

NCSS General Fund


The General NCSS Fund helps offset the daily operating costs of the organization as we work to advocate for the importance of social studies subjects in the curriculum, and provide high quality professional development opportunities for social studies teachers; develop standards to ensure high quality social studies curricula and instruction and teacher preparation. You contribution will support NCSS as we continue our work and to enable us to invest strategically in new programs and fulfill our mission to provide leadership, service, and support for all social studies educators

FASSE General Fund


The Fund for the Advancement of Social Studies Education (FASSE) was created in 1984 to encourage and support research and classroom application projects that improve social studies education. There are two FASSE funds that award grants each year.

FASSE Christa McAullife Fund


The Christa McAuliffe Reach for the Stars Award was established in 1986 to assist classroom teachers in developing and implementing innovative social studies teaching strategies, activities, and citizenship projects with their students. The grant serves to help social studies educators achieve a dream that under ordinary circumstances would notbe fulfilled.

NCSS First-Timer Scholarship Fund


NCSS offer First Timer's conference scholarships that includes registration to the NCSS Annual Conference and a 1 year NCSS membership to a limited number of qualifying teachers each year The intent of the scholarship is to support early career teachers from diverse ethnic groups or those who teach in high-poverty schools by providing an introduction to the networking and professional development opportunities that a professional association can provide. $275 funds 1 scholarship.
